| Digicon in its initial
years, two decades ago, started of as a data processor and software
developer for various industries in India. It had the distinction
to work on the software and data processing projects for India’s
premier bank State Bank of India. It was in the initial years that
Digicon set up a small factory to manufacture impulse sealing and
high frequency welding machines to cater to the packaging requirements
of small industries involved in the packaging of dairy products,
food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, etc. The high frequency welders
were used for manufacture of purses, bags, folders, files, normal
saline bags etc.
In the years ahead Digicon developed machines
in other areas to satisfy the growing needs of the plastic industry
to seal various plastic materials developed and offered by several
companies around the world. Digicon developed machines for manufacture
of disposable gloves, pouch making machines, bottle closing machines,
and portable sealers for packaging of large items, vacuum packaging
machines, etc. Digicon also developed special welders for packaging
of isotopes for atomic energy installations in India. It was also
the first company to develop special machines for sealing cells
in the batteries that constitute the energy circuits in satellites
and aircrafts. Digicon also developed a number of the conveyorised
packaging systems for chemical manufacturing industries in India.
In the early 90s, the signage industry all over
the world saw the age old method of hand-printing and manual finishing
change to printing of signages on wide format digital printers creating
signages of superb quality and clarity. The development of large
format digital prints on plastic called flex created a need to join
prints to form one large print. Digicon developed the travelling
seaming machines to weld flex in very large dimensions. Today, Digicon
is a forerunner and among the few companies in the world to manufacture
such machines.
In 2002, Digicon introduced the automatic cutting
machines for hdpe/jute fabrics for manufacture of bulk bags and
ground covers for landscaping.
In 2005, Digicon developed the automatic, travelling
eyeleting machine to fix eyelets/grommets on to various kinds of
fabrics.
Digicon also produces high power travelling welders
for the tensile structure industry. The welders are available with
long tables and equipped with LASER alignment devices and a variety
of safety features.
Today Digicon offers its expertise all
over the world and boasts of having customers in several countries
all over the world. Digicon is also planning joint ventures and
offices to reach customers in far away lands. The research and development
wing in Digicon is committed to improve the sealing and welding
technology for the growing family of technical fabrics being produced
in the world today.
